Compositions for small wind- and string-ensembles
The following pieces have been written in a way so that they can be played in different combinations of instruments. For demonstrating the difference of instrumentation, each piece is shown in two variants (wind only / strings only). Thereby it is clear that the electronic playback with its artificial rigid sound can never reach the natural sound of real instruments. Thus, the listening of the given examples needs getting used to. But the objectiv is to give a rough acoustical impression. To allow any combination of instruments certain parts are available in different versions (tonality, clef). If desired, you can naturally ask for additional parts for other instruments. The relative parts for wind and strings are not completely identical (for respiration reason), but they are compatible amongst them and can therfore be played together. Please note: the following content is copyright protected. When you use one or more of the pieces, please pay CHF 10.- by IBAN bank-transfer or by PayPal (siehe the information under "contacts") or adress an e-mail to "rickenbacher at opentrain.ch". |
Corona Impressionen | ||||||
A smooth ballad (Andante moderato) with "mixed feelings" in arduous pandemic times.
| ||||||
|
Folk Duo mit Bassline | ||||||
Originally a contrapuntal duet, then completed by a bass-line. The melody and its style tries to express a folkloristic ease.
| ||||||
|
Harmonie en évolution | ||||||
In life, and particularly in a partner relation, there are many ups and downs. These snapshots describe musically some of these emotional states: "unsicher" (doubtful), "freudig" (joyful), "melancholisch" (melancholic), "schwerer" (arduous), "suchend" (seeking), "gefunden" (found). Thus an alternation of Major and Minor.

|
Pour Aditya | ||||||
This piece was a "gift" to Aditya (granddaughter), who made her first musical experiences. For being playable for her, it is technically very simple, but with the emphasis on an easy melodic line.
|
Kleine Suite im Dreivierteltakt
A musical suite of short melodical fragments in three quarter time, expressing different emotional moods: "lebendig" (lively), "freudig" (joyful), "bedächtiger" (thoughtful), "neuer Schwung" (new verve), "jetzt läuft's" (all OK).
|
Leichte Muse | ||||||
This "Kleine bunte Suite" aligns six short mouvements in different moods: Andante moderato, Allegro, Andante moderato, Vivace, Allegretto, Vivace. By the way: the tempo indications are only propositions and can be adapted according to individual feeling (or performance abilities).
|
Menuet folklorique | ||||||
This dance in minuet style shows with its melody and ease its caracter folkloristic. It is thought to express a pleasant cosiness..
| ||||||
|
Variationen in g-moll | ||||||
This trio for flute, Oboe, Bassoon or Violine,Viola, Cello with optional piano (or only bass-line accomp.) is composed of a series of contrapuntal melodic variations in g-minor.
| ||||||
|
Vergänglichkeit | ||||||
This piece (called "Caducity") arose in a melancolooc mood and under the impression that everything in life, the happy moments, as well as - fortunatly - the unhappy experiences are ephemeral, even though they often recur. The solo-part which repeats to rejoin the other instruments demonstrates how life over and over opens new asects.

Trois Airs | ||||||
To offer a personalized music to a family with a young violinist I have written this collection of three short parts. They have the titles : "Un air ambigu" (ambiguous because of mixing major and minor), "Un air rythmé" (rythmic syncopation exercise) und "Un air joyeux" (small dance in three-four time). For the celliste/bassooniste it is a little more ambitious. The piano accompaniment is optional and helps to keep the rythm. The given chord notation can be used freely by a potential guitarist.
| ||||||
|
Fais-moi un canard | ||||||
A short humoresque, written spontanously for two young people who had fun to banter themselves by pulling a (duck) face. The melodic base is the famous "Duck Dance" composed by Werner Thomas.
| ||||||
|
Bass Power 50 | ||||||
And here is another additional example which shows a completely different Style. It was written for practicing of an e-bass player. Later some brass parts wer added which reproduce the monotonous rhythm in g-minor. (curently it ist available only in this wind- and e-bass version)
